RPZ Backflow Prevention for Water Filling Stations

Protecting Potable Water with RPZ Backflow Prevention

At Abberfield, we’re committed to delivering safe, compliant, and reliable water dispensing solutions. That’s why our Water Filling Stations — models WD2500, WD3000, and WD3000N — are designed with integrated or optional Residual Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow prevention systems. These systems play a vital role in protecting potable water from contamination and ensuring compliance with Australian Standards (AS/NZS 2845.1).

What Is an RPZ Device?

An RPZ is a testable backflow prevention assembly that stops contaminated water from reversing into the clean water supply. It’s especially critical in high-risk environments where pressure fluctuations or cross-connections could compromise water quality — such as industrial sites, agricultural operations, and public filling stations.

RPZ Integration in Abberfield Water Filling Stations

Our water stations are engineered for seamless RPZ integration:

WD2500: Includes internal space for a testable dual check valve RPZ system

  • Protects against both backpressure and back siphonage
  • Designed for easy access during annual testing and certification

WD3000 & WD3000N: Functionally identical, with RPZ protection tailored to site needs

  • WD3000: RPZ device is housed inside the cabinet for enhanced neatness and security
  • WD3000N: RPZ device is mounted externally and can be positioned to the left, right, or rear of the unit for a straight-through connection
  • External RPZ is protected by a lockable stainless steel cage
  • RPZ mounting system features height and lateral adjustment, allowing precise alignment and easy servicing
    •

RPZ Maintenance & Support

Annual testing by a licensed plumber is mandatory to maintain compliance and performance. Abberfield makes this easy by providing:

  • Easy access to RPZ components
  • Clear documentation and service guides
  • Online and phone support for troubleshooting and compliance

Lockable Cages for RPZ Device Protection

Engineered for durability. Designed for security.

Abberfield’s lockable cages offer superior protection for Residual Pressure Zone (RPZ) devices, ensuring long-term reliability and safeguarding your water infrastructure. Whether you're installing a Water Filling Station in a public space or a remote location, these cages enhance both security and system integrity. Built to withstand the elements and designed for ease of use, they reflect Abberfield’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Mounting Options for Water Filling Stations

Secure installation is essential for the long-term performance and safety of Abberfield Water Filling Stations. To meet diverse site requirements, we offer two anchor plate configurations.

Both anchor plates are fabricated from durable, corrosion-resistant materials and designed for easy bolting to concrete pads or other stable surfaces.

Anchor Plate for Mounting Filling Station & RPZ Device

This robust anchor plate is engineered to support both the Water Filling Station and an integrated Residual Pressure Zone (RPZ) backflow prevention device. It’s ideal for installations where water safety compliance is critical, such as council-operated sites or high-risk industrial zones.

Key Features:

  • Accommodates RPZ valve and Filling Station in a single, unified base
  • Ensures correct spacing and alignment for plumbing and testing access
  • Built to support vertical pipework and secure RPZ mounting brackets
  • Compatible with WD2500 and WD3000N models with RPZ integration

This configuration simplifies installation and ensures compliance with AS/NZS 2845.1 standards for backflow prevention.

Anchor Plate for Mounting Filling Station Only

For sites where RPZ protection is handled externally or not required, this streamlined anchor plate provides a stable base for the Water Filling Station alone.

Key Features:

  • Compact design for space-efficient installations
  • Supports secure mounting of the Filling Station without RPZ hardware
  • Ideal for low-risk environments or pre-certified plumbing systems
